Engaging Students with Reading and Writing in any Content Area
Learn practical literacy strategies that can be easily implemented in any content area classroom. Nancy will demonstrate a variety of strategies that will not take away content-area time, but create time by engaging students fully and directly in reading, writing and talking about their content studies.
Introducing the National Writing Project's College, Career, and Community Writers Program (C3WP)
Learn about the C3WP writing process and take away strategies and skills to begin next school year ready to start your students on the path to becoming skilled in the art of argument writing.
Option 2: Writing Sessions
9:00 - 11:30 AM: Incorporating Design in Project Based Learning, presented by: Tim Dolan and Jason Collins, Menomonie School District
12:15 - 3:00 PM: Success for All Learners: Making Inclusion in the ELA Classroom Work, presented by: Meg Marmitt and Nicole Resch, Elk Mound School District
Option 2: Content Literacy Sessions
9:00 - 11:30 AM: Rockin' Informational Text: Reading to Learn for the 21st Century, presented by: Cat Swanson, Ashley Hammer-Paakkonen and Mandy Cummins, Hudson School District
12:15 - 3:00 PM: In a New Voice: A Cross-Curriculuar Experiential Approach to Teaching Language Arts, presented by: Scott Swanson and Ian Karl, Northwest Passage
