Title IIA Wisconsin Improving Teacher Quality Program

“Creating Mathematics Learning Community” (CMLC)

CESA #11 is supporting a consortium grant in Mathematics.  This grant has been funded through the NCLB Title II, Part A Teacher Quality Program and includes 8 districts within our CESA #11 region (Barron, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, Clayton, Durand,  Osceola,  Prairie Farm, River Falls, St. Croix Central and Unity).  The intent of this grant is to establish a relationship between and among participants and partners to sustain teachers’ on-going professional collaboration, leading to instructional change and teachers’ growth using an identified coaching program within the content of mathematics.  The training will be provided and supported through the year by the faculty at UW-Eau Claire (Sherrie Serros, Ph.D. and Claudia Giamati, Ph.D.) and CESA #11 Educational Consultants.  Grant activities began spring of 2011 and will continue through July 31, 2012.

The CMLC Grant is an initiative that grew out of the CESA #11 Creating Math Excellence (CME) Grant 2008-2010.  This grant has identified 25 teachers and 5 administrators/curriculum coordinators for participation, and many teachers who participated in the CME grant identified themselves as seeking training as Math Coaches, therefore, we have developed this opportunity.
