Technology Tools for the 21st Century

The 2008-09 consortium grant emphasis was to improve student achievement by helping teachers learn to use "technology Tools for the 21st Century."  The project provided professional development training in the use of instructional technologies, specifically resources provided by  ThinkFinity, Intel Teaching Tools and Teacher Domain to improve the technology literacy of both teachers and students with the Framework for 21st Century Learning developed by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.  Teachers targeted improving the global, civic and economic literacies of students within the context of social studies as measured by key Wisconsin Model Academic Standards in history, government and economics.

Goal 1:  All participating students will increase their use of selected technologies as learning tools and demonstrate competence in social studies contexts.

  • Objective 1A:  100% of participating students will meet proficiency in selected ITL standards, demonstrating they can access information and communicate knowledge and use inquiry and interpersonal skills to think critically and solve problems.
  • Objective 1B:  100% of participating students will meet proficient in selected social studies standards, demonstrating they can use technology to develop global, civic asnd economic literacy.

Goal 2:  All participating teachers and media specialists will demonstrate competence in and increase their use of selected technologies as teaching and learning tools to support student achievement.

  • Objective 2A:  100% of participating teachers and media specialists will demonstrate competence in and increase their use of selected technologies as teaching and learning tools to support student achievement.
  • Objective 2B:  100% of teachers and media specialist will integrate technology applications that require students to use inquiry, critical thinking and interpersonal skills to solve problems within the context of selected social studies academic standards.
